The PUMA shoes I ordered with my Christmas money came 4 sizes too small! How the heck does a 8.5 size become a 5.5 size??? I went and looked on the website and the style and colour are no longer there! I called the help center and they claim that the shoes are just "out of stock" and told me to "keep checking in the next 30 days". I think that is code for "we are never getting them back, ever". I am thinking they are permanently gone. I cannot even get shoes I order in the right size without a place making a typing mistake and sending me the wrong size. What the heck??? It's like nothing, no matter how small, is ever easy for me. It is so frustrating!

So, I guess I will keep checking and checking the website. And sending the shoes back because they look like kids shoes next to my feet. *Sigh*

I managed to get three letters written in the last 2 days and will try to write another tonight. I hope to get caught up on my letter writing and make a dent in the small pile of letters I got in Christmas cards. I think I shall write Birna's letter tonight since she said that my Christmas card took a month to reach her in Iceland while hers took only 3 days to reach me. I want to get that letter done and traveling.

Okay, off to get some things done.

New Glasses

  • Jan. 6th, 2010 at 12:39 AM

My new glasses frames are these:

http://www.framesdirect.com/framesfp/Burberry-tcqgpb/r.html

Except they are tortoise shell (brown) instead of black or violet.  Same style however.

No photos of them on my face will be provided because my lenses are very thick and distort my face/make my eyes appear very small.

I am happy because they are Burberry (high fashion yay!) and have anti-glare to the lenses because my eyes are sensitive to glare/bright light (and always have been).

Received some of my Christmas cards to today. Thanks to those who sent them by the way! I've been receiving all my Christmas stuff this week. I have a feeling the mail person didn't feel like delivering much in the week of Christmas (we either got nothing or just fliers) But our mail carrier is like that. I hate when they leave a notice about a "missed" delivery. We've been home all day, but the next day they'll leave one of those bullshit cards saying there was no answer. Of course there was no answer, you never tried.

Dragon Age is coming out with a expansion pack in March. I'm excited about that. Even though I still haven't completed the game once yet. I'm taking my time, plus I keep getting lost. Damn those deep roads.

Not liking the chilly air. And yet I have the window open and fan on when I sleep. I don't know why but I like it really chilly when I sleep, so I can snuggle up in my blankets. But I still worry about making it too cold for my cat.

Sundays are always slow.

  • Jan. 3rd, 2010 at 9:03 PM
My new daily planner is working out well for me. I put in some things I need to get done every day and then check them off as I do them. I haven't any big plans put in there yet but, it's nice to get into the practice of keeping track of daily activities for when I do get busy. It has made me a more frequent blog poster at my fashion blog for sure. I just wish I had more interesting things to say about fashion right now.

I had another instance of a guy who has contacted me way back in Sept. through a dating site and vanished when his ex.girlfriend came back around, recontact me via email yesterday. I just cannot be bothered to want to talk to him because I have never been one to wait around for men who won't let go of the exes. So, that email went directly to the garbage. I don't want to get involved with a guy who may go back to the ex. when she whistles for him at any time. No thank you.

Ended up reading "Dark Assassin" by Anne Perry quite a bit last night. I am now halfway through the book. It is a bit slow going for me because I love the book, but the writing is a bit formal since it is set in Victorian times in England. I have to really be in the mood to read in that style and put up with characters following social conventions of the time period (because they are lower class than the people involved in the crimes they investigate) as they try to solve a mystery. I am not sure what I will read next, but whatever book it is, I will start keeping track of books I read in 2010 by making a list at LJ for that purpose.

I find myself getting envious of friends going on trips to other countries this year. I will not be able to and I know this. I need to move and all my money will go to that...and then I have to get established in the new place so not the time for overseas ventures. I am starting to think I will never get the chance to travel overseas. Like the only way it will happen is if I marry a guy who likes to travel the world because life is just not allowing for me to do it on my own. That being said, I could never marry a homebody who didn't like to travel. I practically roll my eyes in annoyance when a guy starts on his "When I was young I traveled a lot but now... am settled and a homebody" style speech. I have to say, that is one of my "deal breakers" in dating. I would never be happy staying at home, never traveling anywhere, and just working, eating, sleeping, repeat for the rest of my life. Even thinking of that makes me feel the "cage door" slamming shut.

*Shudders*

This is probably why I am not really interested in having kids...because it makes a woman have to take a HUGE time out on life to raise a kid. There are just other things in life I want to do besides change diapers, nurse a kid, wipe up spit-ups, wish the child would sleep through the night so I could get some rest, ect. I want to travel, make art, have a career with my photography, and enjoy being able to take trips with little planning. I would feel trapped if forced into being a housewife who raised kids. So, I have to have that freedom while being settled into a relationship with a guy who wants to explore the world and share life with me.

Okay, enough rambling. I need to get a few things online done and then head off to read a little bit.

I went on an old musical watching spree last night and saw both Singin' In The Rain and 42nd Street for probably the hundredth time each. I realize neither of these movies are the best movies ever made but I enjoyed them both for different reasons. I just wish Ruby Keeler was a better actress and dancer because she does stink up 42nd Street a little. Keeler is so false in her "cuteness" and her tap dancing so awkward it resembles clogging.

On the other hand, Gene Kelly is a dream to watch dance. I could watch him for hours because the man has so much talent. As you can see in this sequence from Singin' In The Rain:

When he jumps up on the lamp post and turns his face to the sky with arm out-streched and then jumps down and hugs the post...such JOY. I constantly rewind and watch that moment.  Kelly captures the whole "OMG! She loves me and kissed me and I love her!" feeling so well in that dance sequence. So happy he doesn't even care it's pouring down rain and simply cannot contain his joy. I love it!

So, that is how I spent my late night before sleeping. I did wish I had South Pacific and An American In Paris...my two favorite musicals from childhood on DVD but, I do not own them yet. I shall have to remedy that soon.

I am still getting Christmas cards in every mail batch I get. Today a gorgeous card featuring Maja from Jannicke and a card from Danka in Serbia. I loved them both!

Now, I am going to try and think up a blog post for my fashion blog, as well as post ideas for stylefeeder. Not as easy as it seems so I will be doing a bit of surfing the Internet for ideas.

I need my TCM! Damn local cable no longer carries that station!

New Years Day.

  • Jan. 1st, 2010 at 4:04 PM
I awoke to the sound of rain falling on top of the inch of snow we got last night. As you can imagine the snow is pretty much melted. Looks like this is just not the year for snow which is fine after two years of LARGE amounts of it. It's still winter though so I may be speaking too soon. It's hard to tell with Spokane because the weather here is very unpredictable.

I started watching Planet Earth on DVD last night and it seems interesting. I did get sad about the very first scenes of it when a wolf killed a baby caribou. I kept reminding myself that I am okay with the chain of life but, the fact the caribou gave up to die just made me sad. Strangely, I had no other sad moments in the death of creatures in hunting between predator and prey on that series since. I blame it on the "giving up" part of the hunt/hunted for making me feel that way.

I do have to say, I hate the narration. I really don't like when they seem to try and be cutesy to "get into the head of the animal" with the narration. The narration is so deadpan it just strikes me as odd to have the narrator suddenly say "Opps! You missed a spot!" when a bird is cleaning an area with a leaf. I am going to have to suffer through with the narration and just concentrate on the images.

The images are what make the DVDs worth watching. They make me want to see the places visited in them with my own eyes even though I know it is not possible. I especially loved the "Mountains" section with all the high peaks covered in snow. It reminded me of a bus trip to Seattle in the winter time around Christmas and seeing the snow blow off the peaks of the Cascade Mountains in the bright sunlight, against blue skies, as the bus passed through the pass to get to Seattle.  That was so gorgeous and awe inspiring to see. So, seeing the different mountains on the DVD really was cool for me and reminded me of that bus trip.

So, I will be watching more of the DVDs as the days pass.

My friend Sebbie in Australia started up an Australian based dating site. She is from Finland and met her Aussie husband online so has been interested in starting a dating site. She noticed that Australia didnt' really have a Australia centered and based site out there. Yeah, the USA has loads of pay dating sites that really are a crapshoot (for lack of better words) and usually don't work. So, she decided to start one herself. I am hoping it works out well for her because she is so excited about it. She launched it right at the New Year so if you are in that area of the world and want to check it out, CLICK HERE.

And now, I am headed off to try and think of a topic for my fashion blog. I want to make a post there and need some inspiration. This means I will be surfing clothing sites online for at least the next hour.

I hope the new year has started out well for everyone and that the day has been exactly what it should be for them. :)

Happy New Year Everyone!

  • Dec. 31st, 2009 at 8:32 PM

I am spending NYE in to save money, and because no one wanted to go out tonight. Not my favorite way to ring in the new year but, we cannot always have what we want.

I made my last update to my fashion blog for 2009 HERE. So feel free to check it out and read back a ways as well. I have posted a few posts in the last two weeks there.

And now, I am sipping champange (cheap kind) that my mum bought for tonight while listening to Pandora Radio. The songs are on a 1930s jazz tip at the moment so, I am being treated to Louis Armstrong's version of "Just A Gigalo" from 1931. Amusing stuff.

I will be finishing up online activities when midnight hits and will then probably read a little since I am in the middle of Anne Perry's Dark Assassin. It is really starting to get interesting so, I want to read a little of it before bed tonight.

Anyway, hope everyone had a great NYE and that the new year starts out on the right foot for them. S
ee you on the flipside.

New Year Is Coming.

  • Dec. 31st, 2009 at 2:46 PM

It has been a quiet two days as my dad is working at his part-time job. Amazing how the stress level in the house drops when he is out of it. Unfortunately, he doens't work the part-time job all the time because, well it is part-time.

Today is the day before the new year...I will be glad to see the new year come and the old come to a close. There were good moments in 2009 but a lot of bad as well. I will be glad to see the year passs into history and hope that the new year will be a better one.

It is starting to snow at the moment...we are not expecting a lot of snow today...so the new year is trying to cover the old it seems. I wish it luck because it would be cool to wake up in the morning to snow covering everything.

I really have nothing else to write about today. Why I am doing this rambling. So, off I go to find other things to do.

So I haven't been posting much. Of course that is nothing new. But something has been taking up a lot of my free time.

It's actually a game my brother got for Christmas. I just played it a bit and surprisingly really got into it. I'm usually not one for these types of games, but hey it's fun.

Horoscope For Aquarius for 2010

  • Dec. 30th, 2009 at 3:32 PM

Aquarius Outlook for 2010

Aquarius

1/20 – 2/18

Year 2010 Overview

Aquarius often gets pegged as being a little too cerebral for its own good. But the truth is, that's where you do your best work. The next year is going to give you the opportunity to use those sharp mental powers to focus on what it is you really want out of life. Two eclipses fall in your Twelfth House, which will bring out your intuitive side, and give you a chance to see your life from a less-strictly-logical (yet no less valid) perspective. The additional information they give you about your life and your position in it will be your big chance to put things in order.

Saturn is also going to be bringing big changes as to your philosophical approach to life. What fundamental approaches to life have worked for you, and what haven't? You may have never stopped to ask that question, or known the benefits of finding the right answer to it. This year, those answers will come, and your life is likely to be a saner, better-adjusted place for it.

Of course, it's impossible to have a well-ordered world around you without having a few other people in it. The middle part of the year will see close friends and partners coming and going in your life, more so than you've seen in a long time. In part, this will be a reflection of the changes going on in your "higher mind." And again, the overall effect should be a positive one. It's your worldview, Aquarius -- make it the best you can!

Year 2010 Romantic

Wherever Cupid finds you on your birthday, in the following year you will be ending up somewhere significantly different. December through February may not necessarily bring bad news in your love life, but events will occur that cause you to challenge your satisfaction with where things are, regardless of whether or not you're involved with anyone. If you are in a committed relationship, you'll likely feel that pressures in your own life demand more time and attention, taking time away from your relationship. If you aren't with anyone at that time, you're probably going to find yourself questioning the joys of single life harder than you would normally.

General romantic opportunities, whether in a new relationship or with an existing partner, will increase significantly in two important time frames: April through June, and the last two months before your next birthday. In both cases, a small amount of effort on your part will reap significant rewards. It would be the optimum time to join a dating service, or in some other way change your search techniques.

If you're in a relationship but aren't fully committed, the entire year will bring pressures from within and without to change things up. Some of this will be subtle, whereas other pressures will be overt. The process peaks in July and August, and it's possible that you might feel cornered into making a big change that may not entirely be to your benefit. Of course, ultimately, it's your decision. Don't let anyone else make it for you!

Year 2010 Career

Adaptation and flexibility are absolute requirements for life in the modern world, and this applies to your work and money situation as much as to any other area of your life. Economic uncertainty has been running wild for the last year or so, and you've felt the fear just as much as anyone. The economic weather simply hasn't wanted to play along with your high ideals about how things should be. That's probably made you at least as fretful as the average person, and maybe more so. Fortunately, your unique gift for seeing an ideal and staying focused on it will have definite rewards in 2010.

When it comes to your actual sense of direction with your career and how you fit into life, Neptune will continue to make things fuzzy, but Jupiter is coming to the rescue! It moves into your Money House in January, and will bring much better luck with your cash supply. The entire period of January through September will see dramatically improved luck; not necessarily "winning the lottery" type luck, though. The same amount of effort you put into your finances will be rewarded with better results. Take advantage of this time by using your head with your budget, and you will see dramatic gains.

Work in general will continue to be the same combination of grind and reward that you're used to throughout most of the year, with an overall slight reduction in pressure. April through June may find you subject to more than the usual share of office politics -- stay above it all and no harm will come to you. The last three months before your next birthday will see newfound energy and optimism with your work, and you'll be sure to impress someone higher up the food chain during that time. Congratulations!

PiL ...My Inner Voice.

  • Dec. 29th, 2009 at 5:06 PM

When life seems to give me a nice kicking, bands like PiL (Public Image Ltd.) are my go-to music. Bands like PiL just suit the mixture of emotions that are crashing into one another inside me during these times.

So today I listened to these PiL songs:

Seattle (no embedding allowed, sadly): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NweRE8aeFKQ

John Lydon's voice/vocal style just seems to tap into the inner feelings I have when the world seems to keep kicking my ass. Wild to think my inner voice, when I am being really treated horribly, resorts to John Lydon angry tones.

The words to PiL songs always make me feel better as well when I sing along to them. As the lyrics say in Rise- "Anger is an energy!"

I have two plans for the new year that are not major but just things I need to do.

Update

  • Dec. 27th, 2009 at 6:47 PM
Thank you everyone who said Happy Birthday to me in my earlier post. Much appreciated.

I had to reformat this computer again. I'm really starting to not like this computer too much. But it's all I got. I still haven't uploaded all my pictures and music just yet. Takes too much time and I just don't have the patience for it right now.

Christmas was okay, minus the fact that my poppa (grandfather) was still in the hospital (don't think I mentioned he had another stroke about a week ago) This one took a lot more out of him. Everyone is hoping he'll get better, and get some strength back so he can go home soon.

I got a new cell phone for Christmas. The Samsung Vice I haven't really used it yet, mainly because nothing on it works just yet. I'm waiting to see if it'll become fully "activated" on Wednesday. If not, I have to phone them. I want to use my unlimited mobile browsing and texting. Even though I only text one person. Yeah, that's pretty sad.

Was helping my mom make dinner. I was in charge of making the yorkshire pudding. While heating up the oil I dropped it all over the kitchen floor and ended up burning the crap out of my thumb. But everything ended alright. Once we cleaned that up and heated up some more oil and got the stuff into the oven, it turned out pretty good.

What else..? I've redyed my hair. It's no longer a dark dark brown, it's more or a light brown. Not sure if I like it. I wanted a more medium brown. I'll probably redye it that colour when it comes to refreshing the colour I have now.
